While reading "The Lottery" I had realized soon into the story that it was going to take a turn for the worst. The tone of the story was spine chilling and suspenseful. After finally reveling what the "lottery" was i was in complete shock. The winner of this "lottery" was to be stoned to death. This threw me for an absolute whirl I was not expecting. What I feel the right things to do was not to kill and innocent person. Tessie, who was the unfortunate "winner" of the lottery was the one to go. She had a husband and kids; a whole family. It was heart breaking to see an innocent person have their lives taken away because of an old tradition. They should have gotten rid of this tradition a long time ago and came up with a non-violent more peaceful one.

While watching the movie “Do the Right Thing” by Spike Lee there have been many things that I have caught onto. Right from the beginning Mr. Senor Love Daddy, while on the radio speaking on this day that was “Hot as hell” had mentioned that “Todays color is Black”. Soon after we see a young man, Mookie, walk down the stairs of his home. Mookie is dressed in a Jackie Robinson jersey, Jordan sneaks and around his neck he sports a black power chain. I noticed that each piece mentioned was something very influential in their culture and had a lot of symbolic mean. I thought that is was very creative and impressive on how he chose to wear the color black.      Another things I came to realize was who and how the kids, Punchy and Ahmed chose to give their respect to.
